Please gather to unite at Milden Pavilion and Playing Field for the evening, as Milden Parish and St Peter’s Church join in with the national VE80 celebrations. At 6.30pm St Peter’s Church bell will ring alongside Cathedrals and Churches in a united celebration throughout the nation. At 9.30pm our beacon will be lit to join the thousands of beacons that will shine throughout the United Kingdom. This is to represent the ‘light of peace’ that emerged from the darkness of war, and along with the nation we will sing the hymn ‘I Vow to Thee My Country’.

A BBQ will be lit and available for you to cook your own food and we ask you to please bring your own choice of drinks. Rounders will be available to play so please remember suitable footwear! The audience was treated to an informative and entertaining talk about Charlie and “The Dig’.
This is an intriguing and sometimes hilarious look behind-the-scenes in the making of the Netflix film "The Dig", a film based on a novel with the same title about the famous Sutton Hoo burial ship and the people involved.
Charlie will explain how a potential "scam" email from "The Dig" producer, turned out to be real, and followed by a phone call from Ralph Fiennes.
Charlie will show how Ralph Fiennes, who played Basil Brown, and the other "Suffolk" actors learnt their Suffolk accent . . . and not sound like West Country pirates ! Charlie will also explain the extreme lengths Ralph Fiennes took, not only to play Basil Brown . . . but to become Basil Brown.
On Friday 24th February 2023, Alan gave an informative and entertaining talk about his and Pat's epic journey across India in their Morgan 3 Wheel Sports Car, affectionately known as the 'Queen Bee' in aid of Goonj, an award-winning, India-based voluntary organisation which turns urban surplus into a powerful resource that rewards self-development of rural communities.
